Inspired by Philippe Starck's 'Juicy Salif Citrus Juicer', I wanted to make a product that would not necessarily be functional - rather, it would show the status of the user.
I also drew influence from Ron Arad's metalwork, Philip Treacy's hats and Issey Miyake's angular 1325. Standard Collection, focusing on creating something with a semi-industrial, architectural aesthetic with clean lines and folds.

Individual piece prototypes
From here, it was simply a case of evolving and continuing to prototype my design right down to the specific dimensions of the individual pieces. As I was planning to make the final piece out of one big piece of aluminium, I needed to be very specific and precise in my measurements, so the pieces would fit together and I would be able to rivet them in place.

In this video, I flip through my two product design sketchbooks, explaining my creative process & inspiration in more detail.
