For this project, I wanted to reflect on the fact that humans can be repelled by an animal carcass - but attracted to a steak on their plate.
Throughout this project, I wanted to push the images into abstraction enough so that, at first, the viewer does not realise what they're looking at, and is hopefully attracted to the visual quality of the image - but when they eventually register that it's a piece of raw meat, they are taken aback.
By degrading the images via spraying them with acetone, using oil paint washes and making monotype prints from them, I was able to push them further into abstraction.
