In my research for HIRAETH, I discovered that Bartholomew Roberts (1682-1722), originally from Pembrokeshire, Wales, created one of the earliest pirate codes: an agreement that established a shared set of rules for life aboard his ship, offering an alternative social order beyond the laws of the empire. The modern pirate, then, is not simply an outlaw, but someone who imagines their own rules \u0026amp; creates their own way of moving through the universe.
